MDMA is most commonly present in the form of a comprimé or capsule and is typically taken orally. Traffickers use brand names and logos regularly as marketing strategies to differentiate their goods from the competition. The logos may be created for holidays or special occasions. Butterflies, lightning bolts and 4-leaf clovers are among the most common logos. It is also available as a powder, occasionally as snoring, and often is smoked but rarely administered as a fluid. The NIDA frequently looks at patterns of the use of illegal drugs in the United States in youth, adolescents and adults in the middle and high school era. Researchers found that fewer than 1 percent of the 8th school grade students have been using MDMA for the last 12 months in the 2017 Monitoring the Future Study: Changes in the Prevalence of MDMA in the 8th, 10th and 12th grades, while in the past years, 1.7 and 2.6 percent of grades 10 and 12 have been using Ecstasy.
